On June 30, SAMSUNG SDI released its “Sustainability Report 2026” on its website in response to tightening global ESG regulations and stakeholder demands.

In 2003, SAMSUNG SDI became the first Korean company to issue a sustainability report, and it has continued to publish the report annually ever since. This report is the 23rd edition, covering key accomplishments and mid- to long-term sustainability strategies across environmental, social, governance (ESG) domains.
The report specifically highlights the company’s enhanced sustainability initiatives, including climate change responses like the establishment of a carbon footprint calculation system, the establishment of supply chain due diligence policy, and the acquisition of international compliance management certifications.

SAMSUNG SDI is establishing a system to measure battery carbon footprints at the product level in response to EU battery regulations and customer requirements.
Following the development of an automated product-level data collection system in 2025, the company is currently enhancing its footprint management system based on this technology. Through this system, SAMSUNG SDI will measure and disclose the carbon footprint of batteries it manufactures in the future. This is expected to lay the foundation for more transparent management of the environmental impact of batteries.

[SAMSUNG SDI is establishing a system to measure battery carbon footprints]
SAMSUNG SDI is reducing greenhouse gas emissions by simultaneously transitioning to renewable energy and improving energy efficiency at its manufacturing sites.
In 2025, SAMSUNG SDI additionally signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) at the Ulsan Factory, while the Malaysia corporation newly entered into a PPA. Both sites are on track to adopt renewable energy within 2026.
Furthermore, SAMSUNG SDI is continuously reducing direct greenhouse gas emissions by improving energy efficiency at all of its manufacturing sites, both in Korea and overseas. As a result, it reduced an additional 25,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions on top of the cumulative 32,000 tons reduced by 2024, achieving total direct greenhouse gas reduction of 57,000 tons. In particular, the company lowered the regeneration temperature of dehumidifiers, effectively optimizing its dry room operations and reducing annual LNG consumption by approximately 8.0 million Nm³.
SAMSUNG SDI operates the ESG Due Diligence on Partners system to foster a responsible supply chain environment and preemptively manage potential ESG risks. In 2025, the company established a Supply Chain Due Diligence Policy to proactively respond to various global regulations, including the EU Battery Regulation, and to further clarify evaluation standards for its partners.
SAMSUNG SDI is continuously enhancing its compliance management system by prioritizing transparency and trust. In 2025, it obtained integrated certification for the Anti-Bribery Management System (ISO 37001) and the Compliance Management System (ISO 37301), proactively addressing the growing demands for corporate compliance.
SAMSUNG SDI is implementing sustainable management through initiatives such as climate change response, energy transition, supply chain sustainability management, and strengthened compliance management. Going forward, it plans to lead the way in the sustainable growth of the battery and electronic materials industries, grounded in environmental and social responsibility.
