We often find that a single emoji resonates better than hundreds of words. SAMSUNG SDI’s corporate messenger features one such character, a deeply loved emoji character named DoDI. The name was created by combining “Do” with the last two letters “DI” from SAMSUNG SDI, signifying the proactive spirit of employees in everything they do.

To mark World Emoji Day on July 17, this story introduces DoDI, the character working as a communication facilitator at SAMSUNG SDI.

Just a naive icon? No!

The DoDI emojis found in corporate messenger do an excellent job of smoothing out communication between colleagues, juniors and seniors alike. They break the ice when people are about to begin a work chat, and are frequently used to offer congratulations in a relaxed atmosphere. 

DoDI does not just stay on screens and messengers. Originally created for the 2022 in-house pedestrian safety campaign “Walk Smart,” DoDI also reflects SAMSUNG SDI’s ongoing efforts to ensure a secure workplace. The character helps promote basic internal safety practices, such as compliance with on-site safety regulations, and spreads awareness about the company’s ESG management initiatives while serving as a company mascot.

DoDI fosters a flexible organizational culture

Internal events and training programs actively utilize DoDI to promote a flexible, flat organizational culture. 

During Children’s Day events held for employees with children, DoDI receives an especially enthusiastic response. When conducting employee training on work efficiency tips or industry trends, the character is used to share information effectively.

In a recent event held on July 1 to celebrate the company’s 56th anniversary via the internal communication channel SDI Talk, keycap fidgets featuring the DoDI design were handed out to all employees who left congratulatory comments. The event sparked a massive response, drawing approximately 5,400 employee comments.
