SAMSUNG SDI Leads the AI Data Center Market with Ultra-High Power UPS Batteries
2026.06.02
As the proliferation of AI data centers brings the reliability of power infrastructure into sharp focus, market expectations for Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems are also rising. This shift is driven by the surge in power consumption from large-scale AI computing, making high-power performance capable of instantly responding to sudden load swings an essential requirement.
SAMSUNG SDI is leading the global market with a UPS solution optimized for AI data center environments, leveraging its “PrismStack” prismatic battery, a product built on unrivaled technological expertise. The “U8A1,” designed specifically for UPS solutions, was recognized for its innovation last year at Europe’s largest energy exhibition, “The Smarter E Europe,” where it was the only product from a Korean company to be named an Award Winner.

The core strength of SAMSUNG SDI’s UPS batteries lies in their ability to simultaneously deliver ultra-high power output, space efficiency, and safety.
The U8A1 employs a LMO cathode material featuring low internal resistance, achieving ultra-high power performance with a rated output of 263 kW per single rack. This capability enables an immediate response to peak power demands caused by AI processing and grid volatility.
Furthermore, the product improves space efficiency by more than 33% compared to previous models through a high-energy-density cell design. For data center operators, this reduces the required UPS installation footprint within a limited area, allowing for additional server deployment and ultimately reducing the total cost of ownership (TCO).

SAMSUNG SDI has also significantly enhanced safety competitiveness. The PrismStack is a prismatic battery featuring a robust aluminum- canned structure that resists external impacts. Essential safety components, such as vents for releasing internal battery gases, are integrated by default. Additionally, insulating sheets are applied between battery cells within the module to minimize heat transfer, and fire suppression capsules are integrated to extinguish early-stage fires in the event of a critical temperature rise.
Because even a split-second power outage is unacceptable in AI data centers, high-performance UPS systems have become indispensable. SAMSUNG SDI plans to continue leading the AI data center market, building on the momentum of its globally recognized, innovative UPS solutions.
