People who visited the SAMSUNG SDI booth commented, "I’m here to see the all-solid-state battery. It seems the interest in all-solid-state batteries has grown increased even more as the Physical robots attract attention. At this exhibition, what impressed me most was SAMSUNG SDI’s development roadmap for all-solid-state battery, which targets mass production in the second half of 2027.” Another visitor noted, “I could learn about SAMSUNG SDI’s current portfolio focus through its diverse ESS technology displays at the booth.” They expressed significant interest in SAMSUNG SDI’s technological competitiveness.

Let’s now take a look at the main zones of the SAMSUNG SDI booth.

ESS Zone – The infrastructure that protects the heart of AI

When renewable energy output fluctuates due to weather conditions, ESS stores the power generated by renewable sources and supplies it on demand, ensuring stable operation of AI datacenters.

The ESS Zone at SAMSUNG SDI booth showcased the full lineup of SBB products. SBB is designed in a container format, integrating cells, modules, and safety systems into a comprehensive all-in-one battery solution.

Notably, the AI-based fire prevention software “Samsung Battery Intelligence(SBI)”, debuted this year, drew significant attention with its cutting-edge technology. SBI diagnoses battery status and predicts abnormal signs in advance. Visitors could directly experience the remarkable technologies applied to SBB products at the booth.

UPS & BBU Zone – Backup systems preventing power outages

The UPS(Uninterruptible Power Supply) and BBU(Battery Backup Unit) Zone featured ultra-high power, high-quality batteries applied to UPS and BBU required for datacenters, the core infrastructure of the AI era. UPS immediately supplies power during outages or power abnormalities to maintain operation of the entire building system, while BBU stably maintains power for AI servers at times of power peaks or outages.

This exhibition featured two battery solutions: the “U8A1” for UPS systems launched in this January, and a high-power, high-capacity BBU battery solution unveiled for the first time at this event. The enhanced performance and efficiency of both products were highlighted to meet the demands of growing AI computing needs, capturing the attention of visitors.

Power Tool Zone – The driving force behind AI in motion

The Power Tool Zone displayed products using the ultra-high-power 50A cylindrical battery cell that earned recognition for its technological prowess at last year’s “InterBattery Award”.

Power tools tend to require high output in short bursts. SAMSUNG SDI holds the top market share globally for cylindrical batteries used in power tools. Building on this leadership, it is now expanding this advanced battery technology into the “moving AI” Sector, including EV, robotics, drones, and Urban Air Mobility(UAM).

ASB Zone – Batteries enabling physical AI and human coexistence

All-solid-state battery(ASB), recently receiving spotlight as next-generation battery, were also introduced at this event. SAMSUNG SDI’s ASB boast smaller, lighter, and safer designs by increasing energy density through proprietary anode-free coating technology.

The exhibition also revealed the new name for SAMSUNG SDI’s ASB: ”SolidStack” It stands for the company’s next-generation ASB technology.

The SolidStack All-Solid-Batteries are currently under development to enter mass production by the second half of 2027. At this exhibition, its pouch-type sample for physical AI applications was publicly revealed for the first time. This gave visitors an opportunity to examine the ASB technology for various applications, such as humanoid robots and drones, and see the “Physical AI for humans” that next-generation batteries will enable.
