SEOUL, Korea – March 9, 2026 – SAMSUNG SDI announced today that the company will showcase a wide range of high-quality battery solutions and next-generation technologies for the AI era at InterBattery 2026, which opens March 11 for a three-day run at COEX in Seoul.
At this year’s exhibition, the company will unveil a pouch‑type all‑solid‑state battery sample under development for physical AI applications such as humanoid robots, highlighting its global leadership in all-solid‑state battery technology.
SAMSUNG SDI will also introduce battery solutions for Energy Storage Systems (ESS) as well as high-power batteries for Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) and Battery Backup Units (BBU), underscoring its competitiveness in the key infrastructure powering the AI era.
Under the slogan “AI thinks, Battery enables,” SAMSUNG SDI will present the largest booth among exhibitors, showcasing a comprehensive portfolio of innovative technologies and products.
“Our goal is to demonstrate how SAMSUNG SDI’s battery technology transforms the full potential of the AI era into reality,” a company official said. “Built on decades of accumulated expertise, we will present premium battery solutions tailored to the evolving demands of AI-driven industries.”
First Public Display of Pouch-Type All-Solid-State Battery for Physical AI
At InterBattery 2026, SAMSUNG SDI will introduce its all-solid-state battery technology currently under development, targeting mass production in the second half of next year.
The company will publicly unveil for the first time a pouch-type all-solid-state battery sample designed for emerging physical AI applications.
Robots have limited space for battery integration, requiring compact cells with high energy density and long operating time. They also generate instantaneous power spikes during movement, making power‑output capability essential.
SAMSUNG SDI is developing all-solid-state batteries that deliver advanced safety and power output for physical AI applications, while adopting a pouch form factor to support lightweight design. Having focused on prismatic all-solid-state batteries for electric vehicles, SAMSUNG SDI now plans to diversify its form factors to support a wider range of applications, including humanoids and various robotic platforms, aviation platforms, and next‑generation wearables.

High-Power Batteries: The ‘Safety Net’ of AI Data Centers
This year’s exhibition concept is “Inside AI,” designed to provide visitors with an immersive look at how batteries are embedded across industrial sites and daily life.
The main area of the booth is designed to replicate a real‑world IT data center, giving visitors an impression of being inside a working facility.
At the center of the booth, a UPS mock‑up will be displayed, equipped with SAMSUNG SDI’s U8A1 battery for UPS applications.
The U8A1 features SAMSUNG SDI’s proprietary prismatic form factor combined with LMO (Lithium Manganese Oxide) chemistry, delivering both high power performance and enhanced safety. As a dedicated solution for AI data centers, the battery achieves high energy density and improves space efficiency by about 33% compared to previous solutions, enabling stable and rapid power delivery with fewer battery units.
Unlike conventional UPS batteries that operate only during outages, U8A1 also helps stabilize power quality during sudden spikes in AI-related power demand, making it well-suited to evolving customer requirements.
Behind the UPS zone, SAMSUNG SDI will debut its high-power BBU battery solution. Installed inside servers within data centers, BBUs provide immediate backup power in the event of an outage, preventing data loss.
SAMSUNG SDI’s BBU solution incorporates high-nickel NCA cathode material and SCN anode material to deliver high output and large capacity in a cylindrical form factor. A newly designed bottom vent enhances safety, reduces heat generation, and supports longer battery life.
By directly connecting high-power, high-capacity batteries to servers, the system enables immediate support during power peaks and extends data storage time by more than 50% during outages.

Full ‘SBB’ Lineup on Display and First Reveal of Battery Health Monitoring Software
To the left of the UPS and BBU zones, SAMSUNG SDI will showcase the full lineup of its integrated ESS solution, the Samsung Battery Box (SBB), essential for stable and sustainable power management in the AI era.
Visitors will be able to see the interior of SBB 1.5, a 20-foot container filled with tens of thousands of high-nickel NCA prismatic battery cells as well as SAMSUNG SDI’s differentiated ESS safety technology, the Enhanced Direct Injection (EDI) system.
A key highlight in the SBB zone is the debut of Samsung Battery Intelligence (SBI), an ESS-dedicated fire prevention software being unveiled for the first time at the exhibition.
Powered by AI, SBI assesses overall battery health, including status, lifespan, and irregularities, while detecting and predicting potential risks in advance.
The system is trained using data collected from more than 1,400 ESS sites worldwide. Leveraging proprietary algorithms and internally developed battery status indicators, SBI predicts battery conditions ahead of time.
Showcasing Differentiated Technologies, Including Next‑Generation Prismatic Batteries
As the company with the largest portfolio of prismatic battery patents, SAMSUNG SDI will showcase its differentiated prismatic battery technologies at InterBattery 2026, including the award‑winning 700Wh/L high‑energy prismatic battery developed through its proprietary expertise.
This battery achieves an industry‑leading energy density of 700Wh/L for prismatic battery and enables up to 800 kilometers of driving range on a single charge. With fast‑charging capability and top‑tier power output performance, it is recognized for setting a new benchmark in next‑generation electric vehicle batteries.
SAMSUNG SDI’s prismatic batteries achieve industry‑leading fire safety through technologies such as No Thermal Propagation (No TP) and deliver high energy density by applying stacking process optimized for prismatic battery designs.

Pop‑art Collaboration with Um Jaewon and a Wide Range of Exhibition Highlights
Visitors can also explore power tools equipped with SAMSUNG SDI’s cylindrical batteries, allowing them to get a closer look at SAMSUNG SDI’s high‑power cylindrical technology.
SAMSUNG SDI’s cylindrical batteries use tabless technology that reduces internal resistance, enabling high power output and fast charging. A circular saw powered by these cylindrical cells can cut wood up to 40% faster than conventional battery‑powered tools and recharge to 80% in just 15 minutes.
In addition, SAMSUNG SDI will present five collaborative artworks created with Korean artist Um Jaewon under the theme “Fun-tastic Power: Energy that Powers Joy in Everyday Life”, adding a visual element to the exhibition. Through his artworks, the artist presents ESS as a quiet hero safeguarding sustainable energy in the AI era, while portraying SAMSUNG SDI’s high-power batteries as small cells with immense potential.
