SAMSUNG SDI has been honored with a Best Customer Award from MAKITA, a global manufacturer of power tools and outdoor power equipment (OPE). This award is presented annually by Makita to recognize suppliers that have delivered exceptional performance, including cost savings. It marks SAMSUNG SDI’s second time receiving the award, following the first recognition in 2016.

Since 2010, SAMSUNG SDI has been supplying cylindrical batteries in pack form for MAKITA’s cordless power tools and outdoor power equipment. Unlike cell-level supply, providing battery packs requires closer technical collaboration, and as such, SAMSUNG SDI and MAKITA have maintained a strong and cooperative partnership over the years.

MAKITA cited its reason for selecting SAMSUNG SDI, stating that “by providing high-capacity and high-output lithium-ion batteries at strategic prices, SAMSUNG SDI has contributed to enhancing the global competitiveness of MAKITA’s cordless tools.”

At the award ceremony held at Makita’s headquarters on May 27, Chang-jun Park, CEO of SDIJ, remarked, “We are honored to be recognized by MAKITA, and we will continue striving to deliver high-quality products.”

SAMSUNG SDI’s cylindrical batteries hold the No. 1 market share in the global power tool segment and are currently adopted by a wide range of companies. The company is also actively advancing related technologies. In February, SAMSUNG SDI unveiled the industry’s first 50Amp ultra-high power cylindrical battery, and since March, it has been mass-producing its 46-phi battery, often referred to as the ‘next-generation battery’.
