[InterBattery] A Look Back at All Exhibitions of SAMSUNG SDI

SAMSUNG SDI is participating an exhibition at 'InterBattery 2025' from March 5th to 7th. Looking back from inaugural exhibition to the present, let’s reflect on the 13-year history of SAMSUNG SDI’s technological competitiveness.

2013 – 2015: The Beginning of BoT
In the mid-2010s, the IoT (Internet of Things) era emerged, connecting all objects through the Internet. During this period, SAMSUNG SDI introduced the concept of BoT (Battery of Things), showcasing technologies adaptable to various applications such as flexible batteries.

2016 – 2018: The Dawn of Electrification
Later, the industry shifted its focus to energy density of the battery with electric vehicles. To meet customer demands, SAMSUNG SDI introduced high-capacity and high-output prismatic batteries. Notably, key developments include the PHEV battery launched in 2016 and the high-capacity 94Ah battery unveiled in 2018. Meanwhile, SAMSUNG SDI also continued to lead the small battery market, with the 21700 battery introduced in 2017 garnering significant industry attention.

2019 – 2024: Growth Through Technological Advancement
The wave of electrification accelerated in full force around the 2020s. As a result, the batteries of SAMSUNG SDI began to be integrated into various finished vehicle models by being applied to commercial vehicles such as electric trucks. Additionally, SAMSUNG SDI unveiled the development status and roadmap for All-solid batteries while showcasing its advanced material technology through high-nickel batteries. In the ESS sector, SAMSUNG SDI enhanced safety through direct injection systems and liquid cooling solutions.

2025: Preparing for the ‘Super Cycle’
As we enter 2025, SAMSUNG SDI is gearing up for a 'Super Cycle' through technological innovation. This year's exhibition once again highlighted its technology, including ultra-fast charging that reduces charging time to just nine minutes, No TP technology for thermal runaway prevention, and cybersecurity certifications. SAMSUNG SDI’s booth also incorporated AI robots and autonomous buses as new applications. Additionally, ultra-high-power cylindrical battery and LFP+ material·electrode technology have been honored with the highest innovation award.
