2025.02.20
SAMSUNG SDI operates a variety of educational programs to support the growth of our employees. These include job training, global competency development, and leadership education, helping employees enhance the skills necessary for their roles. The company also collaborates with domestic and international universities to foster talent in the battery industry.
Job Training for Developing Technical Experts
To enhance employees’ expertise, SAMSUNG SDI provides job training in battery and electronic materials. Among these, the STEP program (SDI Technology Education Program) is held regularly in the first and second half of each year. The program offers a structured learning process with levels from beginner to advanced, allowing employees to deepen their understanding of batteries based on their level of skills.
Oversea subsidiaries also conduct their own job training programs. At SDIHU, TSDI, SAPB and SDIV, various technical and manufacturing job training courses are provided. Training sessions on topics such as quality, manufacturing processes, and workplace safety are held monthly. SDIM offers beginner and intermediate training courses on facility maintenance each month.
Beyond job training, SAMSUNG SDI operates an academic research training program to cultivate top experts in development and technical fields. The company covers tuition fees and dormitory expenses, providing employees with opportunities to earn master’s and doctoral degrees.

The ‘Language Special Courses’ and ‘Intensive Courses’ last 2 to 10 days and helps employees improve their language skills in a short period of time through theses intensive courses. In addition, the ‘Foreign Language Residential Program’ only allows employees to use foreign languages for 4 to 8 weeks as they stay together. This program primarily offers English and Chinese, but also includes Hungarian and Vietnamese.
Collaborating with Universities to Develop Battery Talent
SAMSUNG SDI collaborated with domestic and international universities to nurture talent in the battery field. In July 2024, the company signed a MOU with Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) to establish ‘a Department of Battery’. This department will be run as a four-year undergraduate program, which provides specialized education covering battery materials, cells, modules, and packs.
Besides, SAMSUNG SDI has been operating battery talent programs with various academic entities in Korea such as POSTECH, SNU, KAIST, Hanyang University, SKKU, and UNIST. This program offers various programs such as battery idea contests, battery workshops and more.
SAMSUNG SDI also has cooperated with international universities to nurture experts. In February 2022, SAMSUNG SDI signed a MOU with Obuda University to nurture top engineers in the field of batteries, and in 2023 opened the first specialized battery courses in Hungary.
