One notable feature is the “vent,” which is designed to release gas when internal temperature and pressure rise due to external factors such as overcharging and overcurrent. In addition, a “fuse” is integrated to cut off the circuit when abnormalities are detected, mitigating potential risks from overcharging.

Another advantage of prismatic batteries is their superior performance. Their structure is conducive to high energy density, as their rectangular shape allows for more efficient use of space when arranging the cells. High energy density is particularly essential for achieving longer driving ranges in EVs. Furthermore, the stacking method, which piles the materials one by one, improves space utilization compared to the traditional winding method.
